茉莉綠茶 (Jasmine Green Tea): Crafting Serenity in a Fragrance

I am an avid tea drinker, and my love for tea knows no bounds. I don't partake in coffee, sodas, or juices—only water and, predominantly, tea. Here in Texas, where sweetening tea is nearly a tradition, I stand out for not adding sugar to my brew.

At Noble Otter, we draw inspiration for new fragrances from our passions. Five years ago, I crafted a fragrance named "Thé Noir et Vanille," translating to "black tea and vanilla" from French. This creation, inspired by my favorite blend, Paris by Harney and Sons, quickly became one of our top sellers. Recently, we embarked on a journey to explore the vast and varied world of teas, eager to introduce our customers to its rich tapestry through a series of tea-based fragrances. From white to pu-erh, from green to chai, we contemplated the essence of each variety.

We pondered: What is the aroma of freshly picked tea leaves? How do the spicy notes of traditional chai compare? What about the woody and malty undertones of pu-erh or the floral accents found in other teas? Could the concept of southern sweet tea find a niche in the shaving world? What distinctions exist between the scent of tea when brewed versus when dry?

This exploration confirmed that tea offers a unique narrative potential in the realm of fragrances. Our creative journey led us to Jasmine Green Tea, chosen for its distinct and appealing profile.

Each visit to Bellaire, Houston, sees me at a bakery renowned for its exceptional Jasmine Green Tea. Unlike the typical grassy tones, this tea boasts light, mellow green notes complemented beautifully by jasmine—so exquisite iced, where the floral element imparts a crisp, dry mouthfeel, making the flavor as intoxicating as the aroma.

Creating the perfect Jasmine Green Tea fragrance involved several iterations—adjusting from too grassy to overly floral, from too light to just right. The final blend saw jasmine gracefully ascending from the verdant base like a ballerina on a mist-covered lake, painting a vivid picture in my mind—a peaceful tea farm in China, a place where one could find tranquility amidst nature.

This narrative was brought to life on the label by Bojana, our talented artist, who depicted our character in traditional Chinese farming attire, immersed in the serene task of tea leaf picking. The setting—a fog-enshrouded mountainside lined with tea bushes and blooming jasmine—perfectly captures the essence of peace and escape from daily chaos.

"Being here, amidst the ancient rhythms of the tea farm, with the scent of jasmine and green tea hanging softly in the air, it's like I've stepped into another world."

茉莉綠茶 (Jasmine Green Tea) features a delightful composition of Orange Flower, Grapefruit, Mountain Fog, Green Tea, Jasmine Sambac, and Tonka Bean. Mark your calendars for its release on April 30th, 2024, at 10 AM Central. We are eager for you to experience and enjoy this fragrance as much as we have in creating it.
